Quickstart Guide: Connecting to the Polaris RTK Network with NTRIP

Basic NTRIP settings for Polaris.

Step 1: Choose the caster* for your selected service (True RTK or Virtual RTK) and your device's region

*This may be called “caster”, “endpoint”, “hostname” or “IP” in your client.

True RTK: truertk.pointonenav.com

Virtual RTK: virtualrtk.pointonenav.com

Step 2: Choose your mount point

Polaris automatically connects your device with the closest reference station, so there are no per-station mount points. Instead we have two mount points for selecting the desired reference frame datum.

Most people will connect to the POLARIS mount point. This uses the ITRF2014 global datum which is supported by most current generation devices.

Some devices, especially survey devices, expect regional datums like NAD83. In this case, use the POLARIS_LOCAL mount point. An appropriate local datum is automatically applied based on your location. See our local datums table for details.

Step 3: Configure Your Device

  1. Enter the caster address based on your service per Step 1
  2. Choose port 2101
  3. Choose either POLARIS or POLARIS_LOCAL per Step 2
  4. Enable “Send NMEA/GGA position” or similar option. In some receivers this may be labelled as "use Network RTK" or "use VRS".

Step 4: Enter Username & Password

1. Go to https://app.pointonenav.com/devices

2. Select your device from the table

3. Click the "Credentials" tab anno_i_2914_36294_1

4. Get your device's username and password from the "NTRIP" section anno_i_2914_36294_2
